Another thing about 2, 4, 6, Greaaat to get mad about is Twilight’s role. As someone else pointed out, she’s treating Rainbow Dash like a friendship student. Which Dash is not. Dash is her friend. Why is she being so condescending to her friend? And then Celestia praises her for it and it’s like, dammit, Celestia, this is why you have no friends they keep writing you as a giant idiot.
…That logic might be circular.
This week, I had the thought of, “Wait, how can they get away with that reference?” except Hasbro probably owns Trivial Pursuit so. :B
Yaknow, that note about last week’s episode was pretty timely. Because once again, we’ve got an episode about Twilight treating one of her friends like crap. So much for saving the better ones for the back half of the season.
And the only reason I was sitting there thinking, “There haven’t been many ‘meh’ episodes this season, and this one is pretty ‘meh'” is that last week’s episode was so bad. I mean, this just doesn’t hold a candle in terms of badness. I’m all badded out.
But it’s pretty bad.
Not nearly as rage-inducing as 2, 4, 6, of course. But from the moment this proved itself to be another “thing which has been happening for years but we’ve never heard of” setup, I knew this wasn’t gonna be good. And it wasn’t. Just Twilight acting like a dick, and tons and tons of ship names for some reason. Seriously, what was up with that? Sunburst couldn’t save it. And what’s up with all the weird animation? Like, not just meme faces, Pinkie was extremely round for most of her shots.
Maybe it was just that this reminded me of the hardest part of the movie to take, but I can live without seeing it again.
