A Horse Shoe-In

My opinion of Dragon Dropped has decreased severely in the last week. It’s amusing, it’s got a good new pairing for Spike, but it’s one of Rarity’s worst turns ever, because she should really know better. But that’s all this show has been for a number of years now: we’re out of ideas, so dial back the characterization and blunder forward with regressive plot developments. It’s a real shame, but it’ll all be over soon anyway.

The only thing that dragon dropped was his balls something something he’s a dog in Humania

This week, it looks like it’s time for best horse girlfriends, but given the sheer amount of incompetence on display since the mid-season hiatus, my expectations are so low, I can’t even look forward to it. :/

I had nothing to worry about. The Terrible and Incompetent Trixie is 257% amazing and can carry any episode she’s in all by herself.

WINK

Yeah, so, this was maybe not an all-time, top-tier, 100% amazing classic episode, but it was really fun and a highly necessary break from all the crap they’ve been shoveling at us for the last month. Just a simple problem, a few ensemble set pieces, and Trixie hamming it up at every opportunity.

And if anything worked here, it was the small things, like the scene of Big Mac conceding with dignity. (I note Spoiled Rich didn’t get a similar scene…) I was shocked Time Turner (wait, is he Dr. Whooves now?) and Octavia both got to speak, but their roles were a lot of fun. Though Octavia subbing for Pinkie just reminded of the time when we thought they were sisters. D: Memories…

Okay, but did anyone else think it sounded like Twilight was talking through a tin can the whole time? <.<

So yes. It was about the school, which I don’t care about, and Twilight taking over Equestria, which is a plotline I don’t think is being handled very well, AND we’re getting our first actual hints of “This is the Starlight and Friends Twenty-Two Minute Drama Hour now”, which much of the fandom has been afraid of since season six. But this was good, as Starlight/Trixie duo episodes tend to be.
